The year 10s are lucky enough to choose from a wide range of elective subjects in 2021 and the Outdoor & Environmental Studies class have been studying risk management and first aid throughout term 1.

For the practical component of this unit, the class enjoyed a great day on the Yarra River learning to white water kayak. Although at first there was lots of zig zagging down the river, by lunch time all the boats were steering through the rapids with confidence but still plenty of splashing. Luckily none of their first aid training was needed but students were able to explore practical risk management strategies and experience how outdoor professionals minimise risk while in the outdoors. It was a great sunny day out on the river with plenty of fun memories made and many white water rapids conquered.
