Life is diverse in the Technology Learning Area

 The Technology Key Learning Area is where students apply their maths and science knowledge, along with the freedom to be creative in designing useful and functional products.
Students follow the Product design process of Investigate and Design, Produce, Analyse and Evaluate. This provides a structure for students to develop effective design practice. Development of their solutions requires the application of technology and a variety of cognitive and physical skills, including creative design thinking, drawing and computer-aided design, testing processes and materials, planning, construction, fabrication and evaluation.
                
In Textiles there are fashionable garments and items, all beautifully made from innovative designs. Stuffed toys of all shapes and sizes with eyes that light up and switches that make noise.
We have fragrant odours filling the Middle School Building emanating from our modern, fully equipped kitchens.
The corridors outside our systems and electronics room are filled with the sounds Year 8 students racing their small “buggy’s” which they have designed and built. There is the drone of deep base as the students test their subwoofers and speakers along with the sounds of alarm systems or electric guitars designed and produced in Systems Engineering. You may bump into strange vehicles finding their own way around or maybe you’ll see some robotic arms.
There are tables and chairs, storage units and more, all designed in Prodesktop and made in the Materials room with machines, hammers and saws. There are products from our Roland Milling Machine and the 3D printer making things appear from thin air.
There is the repetitive noise from the computer labs of students playing their own games created in Gamemaker. Animations galore in the Flash elective as students learn Tweening and Actionscript. Computer simulations of ants, people or viruses produce in Cellular. Interactive websites made with PHP programming and Dreamweaver, spreadsheets, databases and more.
