School Council Elections

I am pleased to report that our School Council for 2012 is now in place. A strong field of candidates contested the election with Christine Wanstall, Clive Roberts and Richard Ashley elected to the three parent vacancies. Two casual vacancies were required to be filled and council has decided to co-opt the candidates who earned the next highest number of votes in the election, Anna Chompff and Selvam Muthukrishna. Staff representatives are Meredith Brookes and Julie Shelton.

Congratulations to all successful candidates and thank you to all who stood for election and all who voted.

The Council has a new President, Christine Wanstall, and Vice President, Clive Roberts. Howard Chan will continue in the role of Treasurer.

Council farewells three members of long standing. Mariana Bouios has served on Council for many years, most of them in her role of President of the Parents Association. Mariana has given the College great service and we are deeply appreciative of that contribution.

Sue Blakeney served on the Council for six years including two years as Vice President. Sue’s wisdom and sound advice has been an asset to Council deliberations during that time.

Ian Clarke has served on Council for eight years and has been Council President for the past six years. During his term as President the College has been transformed as we have undertaken a $20million redevelopment. Ian has led a busy and successful Council during that time and should justifiably be proud of what the college has achieved during his term of office. The College is indeed indebted to you Ian for the great leadership you have provided during an exciting period of the GWSC journey.
